Device Insurance

Device insurance is structured around incidents of accidental damage (breakage). Claims follow a tiered payment structure based on the number of occurrences within a single school year:

  • First Occurrence: $35
  • Second Occurrence: $50
  • Third Occurrence: $70

Loss or Theft: In the event of loss or theft, the replacement cost will be based on the fair market value of the device at the time of the incident.

Important Conditions

  • If a device sustains four instances of breakage within a single school year, the student will lose eligibility for device insurance.
    • The responsible party will be required to cover the full cost of repair or replacement.
  • No payment is required for devices that remain undamaged during student use.
  • Chargers are NOT covered under the device insurance program.
    • Lost chargers can be replaced:
      • Through the Technology Department, or
      • Independently (depending on the Chromebook model)
  • A charger must be returned with the Chromebook at the end of its lifecycle.
  • To purchase a replacement charger from the Technology Department, submit a request via email: techsupport@pbsd.net
  • All replacement costs are determined by the device’s fair market value at the time of replacement.
