If your Plum Borough School District Chromebook will not turn on, follow the troubleshooting steps below before contacting Technology Support.
Make sure your Chromebook is connected to a working power outlet using its charger. If the battery is completely drained, allow the Chromebook to charge for 15–30 minutes before continuing.
Step 1: Check the Power
- Connect the Chromebook to its charger.
- Verify that the charger is securely connected to the Chromebook and a working electrical outlet.
- Allow the Chromebook to charge for at least 15–30 minutes.
- Press the Power button to see if the Chromebook starts.
Step 2: Perform a Chromebook Hardware Reset
If your Chromebook still does not turn on, try a hardware reset. This can help resolve certain power and startup issues.
- Locate the Refresh key on the top row of the keyboard. It has a circular arrow symbol.
- Press and hold the Refresh key.
- While holding Refresh, press the Power button.
- Release the Refresh key when the Chromebook begins starting.
- If the Chromebook does not respond, connect the charger and try the reset again.

A hardware reset is not the same as a factory reset (Powerwash). Do not perform a Powerwash or attempt to remove district management unless instructed by PBSD Technology Support.
