Promethean Boards – Start Here

Overview

Plum Borough School District uses multiple generations of Promethean interactive boards. Depending on the board in your classroom, the way you access features such as Annotate, Whiteboard, Screen Share, Timer, and Spinner may be different.

Use this guide to determine which instructions apply to your classroom.

New ActivPanel 10 Boards

The newest ActivPanel 10 boards use a Chromebox as the primary classroom computer.

Teachers sign in to the Chromebox using their PBSD Google account and access Promethean applications directly through ChromeOS.

Available Promethean applications include:

Promethean Annotate
Promethean Screen Share
Promethean Timer
Promethean Spinner

First-Time Setup: These Promethean applications are available through the Google Play Store and must be installed the first time you use them.

Existing Promethean Boards

Most existing PBSD Promethean boards provide both a Chromebox and the familiar Promethean board environment.

Use the Chromebox for normal classroom activities such as:

Google Chrome
Google Drive
Google Classroom
Google Slides and Docs
Clever
District bookmarks
Web-based instructional resources

The Promethean environment provides access to the built-in Promethean tools available on your board.

Tip: If your classroom uses an ActivPanel 10, use the ActivPanel 10 instructions. If your board still has the traditional Promethean environment in addition to the Chromebox, use the Existing Promethean Boards instructions.
