Promethean Annotate allows you to write, draw, and highlight directly over content displayed on your ActivPanel 10.

You can use Annotate over classroom content such as:

  • Websites
  • Google Slides
  • Google Docs
  • PDFs
  • Videos
  • Images
  • Presentations
  • Other classroom content displayed on the board

Audience

  • Teachers using a Promethean ActivPanel 10

Opening Annotate

  1. Open the website, presentation, document, video, or other classroom content you want to use.
  2. Select Promethean Annotate from your ChromeOS shelf.
  3. Sign in to Promethean if prompted.
  4. Select the annotation tool you want to use.
  5. Begin writing, drawing, or highlighting directly on the board.

Tip: Open your lesson content first, then launch Annotate when you are ready to write over it.

Moving Around Your Lesson While Annotate Is Open

Teachers familiar with previous Promethean boards may notice that Annotate works differently when using the ActivPanel 10 Chromebox.

When you need to click a link, scroll a webpage, change slides, play a video, or interact with something underneath your annotations, use the Hide tool.

Recommended Workflow:
Annotate → Write → Hide → Interact with your lesson → Return to Annotate → Continue Writing

The Hide tool pauses annotation so you can interact with the content underneath without closing Annotate.

Example – Annotating a Website

  1. Open the website in Google Chrome.
  2. Open Promethean Annotate.
  3. Highlight or write over the webpage.
  4. Select Hide.
  5. Scroll down the webpage or interact with the page.
  6. Return to Annotate.
  7. Continue writing or highlighting.

You can use the same workflow with Google Slides, PDFs, videos, presentations, and other instructional content.

Important: If you try to click, scroll, or change content while Annotate is actively capturing your input, the board may interpret your touch as an annotation. Use Hide before interacting with the content underneath.

  4. Restart the Chromebox.
  5. Reopen your classroom content and launch Annotate again.
