Overview
Savvas is a digital curriculum platform used by Plum Borough School District for instructional programs and resources.
Teachers should access Savvas through the PBSD Clever Portal. Once inside Savvas, teachers have two different options for setting up and rostering their courses:
- Clever Auto-Rostering
- Google Classroom Import
Important: Choose the rostering method that matches how you want to use Savvas.
If you use a Clever auto-rostered class, teachers and students will access Savvas through Clever and assignments will appear on the student's Savvas dashboard. If you import your class from Google Classroom, you can use the Google Classroom integration to distribute Savvas assignments through Google Classroom.

If you choose to use the Clever auto-rostered course, both the teacher and students must access Savvas through Clever. Assignments created for this class will appear on the student's Savvas dashboard. This workflow does not provide the Google Classroom assignment-posting workflow described in Option 2 below.

Option 2 – Import a Class from Google Classroom
Teachers who want to use the Google Classroom integration can connect their PBSD Google account to Savvas and import a Google Classroom class.
This option allows teachers to use their Google Classroom roster with Savvas and distribute Savvas assignments through Google Classroom.
Important: Teachers should still initially access Savvas through the PBSD Clever Portal, even when they plan to use Google Classroom for their course roster and assignments.
Step 1 – Connect Your Google Account
- Log in to Savvas through Clever.
- Select your name in the upper-right corner.
- Select Settings.
- Select Account.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page.

When using the Google Classroom integration, teachers can use the integration to distribute Savvas assignments through Google Classroom.
Syncing Google Classroom Roster Changes

- Make the student roster change in Google Classroom.
- Open Savvas.
- Open the appropriate course.
- At the top of the course, select Sync Class Data from Google.
- Allow the synchronization to complete.
Important: Google Classroom roster changes are not automatically reflected in your Savvas class. Use Sync Class Data from Google after adding or removing students.
Hiding a Class
If you no longer want a class displayed on your main Savvas dashboard:
- Open the class.
- Open the class Settings.
- Select Hide Class.
The class will then be hidden from your main dashboard.
Finding Available Savvas Programs & Resources
Teachers can review the Savvas programs available to their account from My Programs.
- Sign in to Savvas.
- Select your name in the upper-right corner.
- Select Settings.
- Select My Programs.
- Review the programs available for your account.
These programs can then be selected and associated with the courses you are setting up in Savvas.
Which Rostering Option Should I Use?
Use Clever Auto-Rostering if:
- You want to use the classes automatically provided to Savvas through Clever.
- Students will access Savvas through Clever.
- Students will retrieve assignments from their Savvas dashboard.
Use Google Classroom Import if:
- You want to use your Google Classroom roster.
- You want to distribute Savvas assignments through Google Classroom.
- You are comfortable manually syncing roster changes from Google Classroom into Savvas when needed.
Tip: Decide how you want your students to receive and access their Savvas assignments before setting up your classes. This will help you determine whether the Clever auto-rostered workflow or Google Classroom workflow is the better choice.
