Promethean – Using Screen Share

Overview

Promethean Screen Share allows compatible devices to wirelessly share content to a Promethean board.

Screen Share can be useful for:

  • Sharing a teacher device
  • Displaying another classroom device
  • Allowing students to present
  • Sharing content without connecting an HDMI cable

Screen Share can be used with compatible devices such as laptops, desktops, tablets, and mobile devices.

Audience

  • Teachers
  • Staff using a Promethean board
  • Students presenting with teacher permission

Getting Started

  1. Open Promethean Screen Share on your board.
  2. The Screen Share application will display the information needed to connect your device.
  3. On the laptop, Chromebook, tablet, or other compatible device you want to display, begin the Screen Share process.
  4. Enter the requested panel information or connection code displayed on the Promethean board.
  5. Approve the connection on the Promethean board if prompted.
  6. Once connected, the content from the device will be displayed on the Promethean board.

Tip: Keep the Screen Share application open on the Promethean board while connecting your device. The information displayed on the board is used to establish the connection.

Using Screen Share for Student Presentations

Screen Share can also be used when students need to display content from a compatible classroom device.

  1. Open Promethean Screen Share on the classroom board.
  2. Have the student begin the Screen Share connection process from their device.
  3. Have the student enter the connection information displayed on the board.
  4. Approve the connection on the board if prompted.
  5. The student's device can then be displayed for the class.

Important: Teachers should control and approve student Screen Share sessions when using this feature for classroom presentations.

Having Trouble Connecting?

If Screen Share does not connect, try the following:

  1. Close and reopen Promethean Screen Share.
  2. Verify that the device you are attempting to share has a network connection.
  3. Verify that you are entering the connection information currently displayed on the Promethean board.
  4. Restart the device you are attempting to share.
  5. Restart the Promethean board or Chromebox.
  6. Reopen Screen Share and try connecting again.
