Ensuring Internet Safety and Security in Plum Borough School District

Welcome to Plum Borough School District, where the safety and security of our students online is a top priority. We've implemented robust measures to create a secure technology and web environment, both within our school premises and beyond. Here's an overview of our initiatives to keep your children safe:

Plum Borough School District Technology Policies

Under Policy 815: Acceptable Use of Internet, Computers, and Network Resources, we regulate web usage, linking policies, live stream video, and district social media activities.

District Network and Devices

To safeguard online experiences, we utilize Lightspeed Filtera comprehensive filtering and monitoring service. This system effectively blocks access to inappropriate content while providing detailed insights into our students' web activities on district-provided devices. Additionally, we've integrated Bark for Schoolsan intelligent monitoring tool that scans Google Suite platforms for potential signs of cyberbullying, self-harm, or other concerning behavior.

At Home

Recognizing the importance of extending safety measures beyond school grounds, we offer resources to support families in safeguarding students on personal devices. Our district devices remain filtered regardless of the network they connect to, ensuring consistent protection at home, school, or elsewhere.

Lightspeed Parent Portal and Bark Parent Portal

Parents can stay informed about their child's online activity through the Lightspeed Parent Portal. To enroll for these reports, simply email techsupport@pbsd.net with your student's name and ID number, and we'll set up access for you.

The Bark Parent Portal provides additional insights into online interactions, helping parents stay proactive in promoting a safe digital environment for their children.
