Google Chrome – Refresh Chrome Policies

Modified on Fri, 28 Aug at 10:01 AM

Overview

Plum Borough School District manages certain Google Chrome settings through district policies. Technology may occasionally make a change that requires Chrome to refresh its policies before the new setting takes effect.

If Technology Support asks you to refresh or reload your Chrome policies, follow the steps below.

Refresh Your Chrome Policies

  1. Open Google Chrome.
  2. Click in the Chrome address bar.
  3. Enter:
    chrome://policy
    Press Return/Enter.
  4. The Chrome Policies page will open.
  5. Select Reload policies.
  6. Wait a few seconds for the policies to refresh.

Important: After selecting Reload policies, completely quit Google Chrome before testing the website or service again.

Quit and Reopen Google Chrome

After refreshing the policies, completely quit and reopen Google Chrome.

Mac

  1. With Google Chrome open, press Command (⌘) + Q.
  2. Wait for Chrome to completely close.
  3. Reopen Google Chrome.
  4. Try the website or service again.

Mac Users: Clicking the red button in the upper-left corner of the Chrome window only closes the window. It does not completely quit Google Chrome. Use Command (⌘) + Q to completely quit Chrome.

Still Having Trouble?

If the problem continues after refreshing your Chrome policies and reopening Chrome, submit or update your Technology Support ticket.

Let Technology Support know that you have already refreshed your Chrome policies. This will help Technology determine the next troubleshooting step.
